Fitting Room Review: Loft 50% off Sale

Loft has a lot of simple, classic pieces and often has friendly sizing for petite figures. My favorite pair of dress pants comes from Loft and they fit like a glove. So when I saw that the sale section is an additional 50% off (still going on in stores and online!) I wanted to try to find some pants. Sadly, I didn’t end up with either of the pants that I tried on but there were many great deals so I still would like to share. Jean, from Extra Petite blog often does mini reviews on items that she’s tried on in the fitting room and they are helpful for those who are going to be ordering online. So this post is inspired by her :)

I’ve been going back and forth on whether or not I want to get boyfriend jeans and while I like the idea of them, every single pair I try on makes me feel frumpy. I have a pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans that have a slimmer boyfriend fit that will do, but every now and then I am tempted to get a slightly distressed pair. Below is Loft’s version. I tried size 25/0 and the waist was perfect but the rear felt a little loose. I do love how relaxed they look. After sale, they were around $23 – not bad at all.

The other pair I tried on fit the exact opposite because they were skin tight. The fit is called the ‘Curvy skinny ankle zip’ with about 4 inches of zipper on each side. (Not very comfortable, but so cute.) Despite being so tight, the denim had a lot of stretch – almost like a jegging. This light wash would be fantastic for summer and spring I think but I do wish they were less tight. So pair #2 didn’t make it home with me. I also didn’t see a price tag on them but looking online, they are $54.99 then additional 50% off. Sizing wise, they run true to size for me – I tried on a 25/0 as well but the petite version so as to get a true ankle pant. How many times have I tried on ankle pants and they hit er, far past my ankle? Quite a few times – and my legs aren’t short. I’m just not very tall :)

Here are a few other picks from the sale!

$44.99 + additional 50% off

$84.88 + additional 50% off

$39.99 + additional 50% off

I do have some more exciting purchases to share soon but it’s a little project that requires a little more work than usual so stay tuned!

Styling Chloe + Isabel Jewelry

If you didn’t see my last post about Chloe + Isabel here, check it out! I am in love with the huge variety of jewelry that C+I offers and the business model they have come up with. (Business student here, I can’t help but notice those things.) Not only that, but C+I jewelry is all handcrafted, hypoallergenic and nickel/lead free, offers free 30 day returns, AND has a lifetime replacement guarantee. For free. Keep reading to see how Victoria and I styled this jewelry and at the end of this post, another little teaser for you because I have a giveaway coming on Thursday for some FREE makeup and jewelry!

Layered Victoria wore this simple yet elegant graduated pendant with a lightweight top that keeps the focus on this versatile piece. This piece comes in a 12k gold plated version and it can be worn with just one pendant or two. This is one of the best everyday necklaces you can get because it goes with everything and you get three necklaces for only $48! Sitting

CuffThis shift dress has an embroidered neckline so I wanted to keep the neck simple and opted for bracelets. My right hand has a gorgeous wrap bracelet that can be worn as a necklace, in your hair, or as a camera strap! Talk about versatility – one of the reasons I love many of these Chloe + Isabel pieces. You can hardly see them, but the stud earrings are just the right touch to this boho summer look and such a unique look. I also have two leather beaded bracelets that are not only affordable at $18-24 but the simplest pop of color/texture that you can add to any everyday outfit. The cuff features two very summery colors on gold, which is right up my alley. It’s elegant and unique without being too much. I have a small wrist and this adjusted just right. And of course, I paired everything with my favorite sandals of the season.

Victoria showed how you can dress down an outfit by tying a chambray shirt around your waist in these pictures. She paired her black and white textured top from Madewell with this long pendant which gives it a lighter feel since the top is structured. The soft gold and mint colors are a nice contrast against a stark black/white print. Lastly, she paired them with a pair of colorblocked leather sandals – we love this look!

Peplum and pom poms are all over style blogs and lookbooks these days and I’m a huge fan myself! The angular neckline of this top practically frames the squared off jewels of this statement necklace. It certainly makes a big statement with the three tiers of different colored gems. Something that stood out to me about this necklace is that it feels well made as all the other pieces do but it doesn’t weigh your neck down. It’s still wearable. Another plus for me is the variety of tones of the jewels mean I can wear it with plenty of different color palettes.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how Victoria and I styled some of this jewelry! We’ll have some more shots for you on Thursday where I’ll post the entry form for our giveaway. Be sure to come back for that so that you can win $100+ worth of makeup and get your hands on some pretty jewels like the pieces I showed you today. Make sure you click the tab ‘Grace’s Picks for You’ to see some of the things that I love and recommend to you on Victoria’s shop page here. See you again on Thursday lovelies!

chloe + isabel teaser

I’m so excited to announce a collaboration project I’m working on with my friend and fellow fashion lover, Victoria. However, this will only be a sneak peek for what’s to come! Be sure to follow me on Instagram for some more updates as we slowly roll out what we’ve been working on. (@tinycupofcake + @chloeandisabel_byvictoria) There will be a giveaway for a chance to win some amazing things that I totally want for myself! Make sure you visit my blog next week for more info.

Victoria is a merchandiser for chloe + isabel which is a company based in New York and not only carries beautiful handcrafted jewelry, but has an inspiring story and mission. What they do at chloe + isabel is a lot more than selling sparkly gems – they are giving more to their merchandisers and customers than that and soon you’ll see what I mean. Read more about the company’s vision here.

In the meantime, I wanted to share some of my very favorite pieces. Maybe you’ll find some to add to your wishlist/shopping list as well – enjoy!

I wish every single person reading this could feel the jewelry in their hands but trust me when I say that each piece feels very well made and nothing like your typical costume jewelry that can be bought at Forever 21. There’s nothing wrong with a statement necklace from F21 – in fact I have many from there – but for investing in pieces that you know will last literally a lifetime, this is a company to buy from. They are strategic to cut out the middle man so you can still get quality for a good price. I’ll talk about the perks more in my announcement post but what would you say to free lifetime replacement for your jewelry? Sign me up!

Here are some more pieces that I got to play with from Victoria’s personal collection! We had a lot of fun shooting in the Bellevue Botanical Gardens:

Each piece comes in a cute jewelry bag! (Casablanca Mother of Pearl Studs – only $24!)

Take some time to browse Victoria’s site because there are so many amazing pieces in the collections featured on her page. I’m generating my own wishlist to buy next week during a special shopping event :)

(Is that giving away too much? I guess I’m too excited!)

For those in the states, please have a safe and fun long weekend!

High Waisted Shorts

{Banana Republic} top
{American Eagle Outfitters} shorts
{Nordstrom Rack} wedges
{Vintage} crossbody clutch
{Gifted from Shanghai} straw hat

I am not quite sold on the look of high waisted denim shorts, but these high waisted silky shorts are a different story. These breezy, comfortable shorts are more classic and I found them easier to pull off because they are less fitted than a denim pair would be. Would you believe me if I said they feel like pajamas? I ran a lot of errands and did some thrifting this day so I paired it with another comfortable piece and favorite, this Banana Republic sleeveless crochet top. I also sense a hat obsession growing. Stay tuned…there will be many hats purchased this summer I think.

P.S. If you haven’t noticed yet, I have my own domain finally! The first day that I made my blog live, I said that I would be registering my domain if I kept up with my weekly goal of at least one post. So here I am three months later! I’ve had so much fun blogging and have learned so many new skills already. As a reader, you are a large part of the motivation it takes sometimes to put hours into blogging. It’s not easy when you’re a student and have a job too! Thanks for all the support :)
